Cheese-Head

In preparation for the Packers vs. Vikings football game tonight baby frank decided to rock his packers gear today and to wear his cheese hat grandma Hartge found for him in Wisconsin! Even though he wasn't really sure about the cheese hat, and he is starting to get a terrible habit of blinking every time the camera flashes ... I think he looks super cute and ready for tonight!

Go Packers
Our little cheese-head

"This cheese hat looks like something I could chew on"
"enough with the pictures mom!"

Weekend Update

Our little guy is growing by leaps and bounds. He definitely has quite the personality and will play non-stop until he passes out from exhaustion (mommy passes out from exhaustion as well) here are some pics of what he has been up to this week:

Baby frank is quite the musician playing with his drum
Ummm... I guess he needs a little more practice
double-fisting his toys
laughing at mommy
so very close to crawling...
quite the chatterbox... he will tell you everything he knows
no wonder he is so spoiled! who could say no to that face!
Posing for the camera
sitting with mommy
more crawling practice

OU vs. OSU Game

Saturday, College Football Game Day, Frank4 and I got to go to the OU vs. OSU football game to cheer on our Alma mater against the buckeyes. Our friend Katie Greiner is a student at OSU, so she got us amazing seats in the student section. We had a great time at the game while baby Frank got to hang out with the grandparents Hartge for the day. The bobcats, never really known for our athletic abilities, did a great job against the buckeyes winning the game until the 4th quarter (no one ever expected that!). Frank4 and I got plenty of dirty and angry looks from the OSU fans for our excessive OU cheering... but can you blame us??

I tried to get a pic with Brutus buckeye... he was not so cooperative

Go bobcats!

4th quarter and we were winning???

What a great game!

Proud to Be a Bobcat!

Tomorrow Frank4 and I will be enjoying the OU vs. OSU football game and cheering on the Bobcats to an impressive loss... as OU-ians we may not be the best athletes... but we are awesome people! Just look at this article as proof!

So not only is OU 1st in Hard liquor consumption, 5th best party school and 5th in beer consumption in the nation this year (not to mention all the various 1st place finishes of top party school throughout the years WE attended OU) but now US news  and World Report ranked us at 3rd nationally for students success in graduation rate! So what does this PROVE you ask? (yes I know in science you can never prove anything, just suggest, but in this case yes it does PROVE)

Ohio University students have learned the essential skill of multitasking... we can have an amazing time on court street and still find time to study, show up to tests hungover and graduate! If that is not the best school in the world I don't know what is! As the new crop of freshman arrive to the OU campus, you may wonder why did we ever leave that place? Frank4 and I ask each other that very question every day... We hope that Baby frank will decided to attend this wonderful institution of higher learning...(mostly so we can regularly visit) but if not, maybe we will be lucky enough to retire in scenic Athens Ohio... {sigh} I have never been more proud of my Alma mater!

Operation Sippy Cup

The Objective: Sippy Cup
The Baby: Francis Joseph Hartge V

Situation: Baby Frank is reaching 6 months and in an attempt to move him from the bottle to the sippy cup by one year old we have begun to introduce the sippy cup.

Mission: Learn to drink juice from a sippy cup and be able to drink without assistance and spilling all over everything.

Execution: Give Baby frank a sippy cup and let him try it out (yes I am aware it is a pink sippy cup... however REAL men can drink from pink sippy cups)

Thinking it is a chew toy and not a feeding tool
getting the hang of it
better... but still treats it like a teether

We have 6 months to complete this task... who knew this self feeding could be so funny

Threat Level Orange

And moving towards red! Up until now baby frank has only been slightly mobile in a rolling/body dragging/scooting sort of mobility that was completely containable... but that is all about to change! He has been getting up on all fours for a week or so now... but yesterday and today we have really seen this determination come out of this child and he focuses all his energy on coordinating his movements and crawling WAY TOO SOON! Don't worry I am never to far from a camera or video camera so we will catch him in action... below is the evidence of what we are so concerned about... not the best face pictures of the kid... but ohhh well
Baby frank 6 1/2 months
trying so hard
look at me go!
I think I can... I think I can
ready to crawl ( blinded by the paparazzi)

Dayton Air Force Museum

To get our teething baby out of the house we decided to head over to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and check out the Air Force Museum.  We enjoyed seeing all the planes and reading about the history of flight, baby Frank even seemed to have a great time checking out all the airplanes. I really enjoyed the section on aerospace because I am a huge NASA fan and interested in space exploration (especially after the "When We Left Earth" documentary). They even had the capsule HAM the chimp was sent up into space in, and Frank4 and I thought baby Frank would fit perfectly in HAM's space suit and space capsule... maybe he could be the first baby in space! haha. There were so many planes old and new it was interesting to see how far flight has advanced in the past 100 years and how amazing those "early pilots" were! We know that in a few short months baby frank will enjoy the museum even more then he did today.

So many airplanes!
