OU-Oh Yeah!

Friday Night I got to go to Ohio University (OU) with my college friends to re-live our crazy college days! We had so much fun and were so excited to be back in the happiest place on earth aka Disney-land for adults aka Athens Ohio. We had such a wonderful time being together and catching up . Lately we only get together it seems for weddings, so it was a nice change to get to spend an evening at OU (and my first night away from baby Frank)! We visited the old sorority house, bookstore, new student center and of course the bars on court street!

Making New Friends

This weekend a lot of my college friends are gathering in Columbus for some fun times and baby frank got to hang out with Katie Ingersol and Lauren Rafferty again (he has not seen them since we were in Chicago almost 5 months ago). He also finally got to meet Vanessa since she was able to drive in from Erie PA for the weekend as well. We spent all morning with the girls and he is quite the ladies man!

He's a Super-FRANK

Tonight baby frank and I got to hang out with aunt molly while she is visiting Dayton for her class tomorrow morning. We went to dinner at The Green in Dayton and did a little bit of shopping. Afterwards we went back home to play and have some fun and baby frank surprised us with his skills! I have been teaching him sign language for months now... if we sign to him he responds but he has never mimicked the signs back to us... UNTIL TONIGHT... he signed "milk" to molly and she asked me what he was doing and I couldn't believe it... it was "MILK"... so we gave him some milk and he was as happy as can be. It is so nice to see him grow and learn

Super Frank!
rolling around
he looks like he is going to fly
playing around
playing with mommy
so much fun!!

The Doctor's Advice

Baby frank can pick up cheerios and "sweet potato puffs" but they get sort of lost in his hand and he doesn't understand they are go in his mouth... which is ironic considering everything ELSE seems to end up in his mouth... needless to say most of them end up on the floor to the joy of or fur-baby Lexie... I mentioned this to the doctor yesterday and to help baby frank learn to feed himself she suggested to give him mashed bananas... first of all the cheerios and sweet potato puffs are much cleaner and do not lead to "sticky hands" which i suppose i am going to need to get used to... second.. baby frank did not understand the bananas were food either just mashing them all over the place and making a wonderful mess... third even though baby frank has had banana baby food before... quickly after i put the camera down he proceeded to regurgitate all over the place that disgusting projectile baby vomit/spit up... and has continued to do that mot of the morning... (keep in mind he never spits-up... so i am not used to this or a fan of this)... I guess this is some advice we will not be listening to in the future!

Playing with banana's... not eating them
making a sticky handed mess
this was more fun then food
he is a banana artist!

Baby Frank's 6 month check-up

Today Baby Frank had his first Dr's appointment at his new pediatrician in Dayton. He was such a good boy and is growing like a weed! His head is 17 7/8 cm (90th percentile) weighed in at 18lbs 10oz (75th percentile) and is measuring 29 1/2 inches (100th percentile and off the charts!)... and he has a size 4 foot! So basically he is one big and healthy boy. Today he only had to received three shots (instead of the usual four)... D TaP, Hib, PNU cn, and one oral vaccine. He did very well as usual... he did not cry after the first shot... and the nurse looked at him (he had a very sad/confused expression on his face) and asked him... "are you going to be a tough guy?"... however he could not keep it together for the second and third shot... but he soon pulled it together and was back to the happy guy we all know and love. The rest of the day we are going to take it easy and hang out around the house hoping that he continues to feel alright.

Getting so big! he soon destroyed and attempted to eat that paper on the exam table

Uncle Joe's Soccer Game

Today the family went to support Uncle Joe at his soccer game for St. Charles against Olentangy Orange. Joe and his team played very well even though the game ended in a 0-0 tie. Baby Frank managed to survive the heat by chilling with daddy in the shade and hanging out with grandma and grandpa by the concession stand. We hope to be able to go see more of Joe's games this season.

Hanging Out with Liam

This weekend we went to Columbus to visit Baby Frank's godfather Liam and his family. We got to hang out on Friday and Saturday... Frank4 and I got to go out and celebrate Liam's upcoming  birthday with Liam and his brother Finn on Friday night. It is always a lot of fun to hang out with the Carstens and baby frank is lucky to have him as his godfather.

Sooo silly

Baby Frank's InfantSEE Eye Exam

Today Baby Frank had his first eye doctor appointment with my good friend Katie Greiner at the Ohio State University. OSU recommends that babies have their first eye exam at about 6 months... so being that baby frank is now 6 months and can get his eyes checked by Katie with the Infantsee program... why wouldn't we go??? (Shameless PLUG: If you have a baby ages 6 months-1 year and you call OSU at 614-292-2020 you too can schedule your free eye exam for your baby... Katie only works on Thursdays... but there are other doctors too...) The exam took a little less than two hours and he was such a good boy through the exam. She said he has very good vision and it was so interesting to see how they test the vision of infants... Baby frank even had a retinal examination in which his pupils were dilated... and Katie said everything looked good and healthy... she told me that he has a blond fundus... which is rare and probably means that his eyes will remain blue. This also means the interior surface of his eye is very white and that allowed Katie to see all his blood vessels very clearly... they also had a slight concern detecting baby frank may have a mild form astigmatism, and so he should go back for a check-up at one year and not at the usual 3 years... just in case there is a problem we can correct it early! I documented most of his exam.

Checking to see if Baby frank can see... he passed
Eye patch..
Katie checking his right eye
Katie checking his left eye
baby frank liked the spiny thing that kept his focus
he really liked it...

Being such a good boy
he cooperated so well! Maybe he is a future optometrist??
still checking out his vision... Katie had to use the super goggle apparatus
he even got some cool shades! haha

Having Fun

Frank likes to play in his exersaucer in the kitchen after he eats breakfast... well he really doesn't have a choice because I am typically washing bottles/dishes and getting breakfast for myself... but he seems to enjoy himself none the less... He is such a chatterbox... sometimes I swear he is saying "da-da" but Frank4 doesn't hear it so I don't put the issue because his first words will be "ma-ma"! haha... He is a very happy and silly boy... even with his two front teeth coming in a majority of the day he still seems to be such a good guy... and for that we are VERY thankful!

I guess he is a morning Baby
so much fun
loving the camera
no toy is safe from a teething baby
